I’ve alway been in envy of people who can design and sew clothing for their own children. It must be so much fun to dream up amazing new outfits for your own kids. Even if I took the time to find the perfect fabric and bought a pattern, I would have no idea how to work a sewing machine….
Which gave me the idea, why not hire a designer to create a custom dress for my daughter this Christmas? Maybe I could find a custom kids fashion designer online.
I searched a bit online for handmade christmas dresses and found some fun outfits of eBay and ETSY. Some of my favorites are the red and green chevron patterned dresses which must be the trend this year as there are lots of adorable items to choose from. Another favorite are the hand smocked dresses with different themes: Santa, Mistletoe, or the Nativity Scene. My daughter LOVES the Santa Baby Christmas Tutu Dress and the Snowman Tutu Dress.
For boys I found the perfect custom neck and bow ties in festive holiday patterns in red and green with santa, polka-dots, trees, snowflakes and more. Some have matching suspenders which is super cute!
For the holidays I’m looking for something a bit more formal. Something more couture for kids from a high-end boutique. I did another search and read about a custom children’s clothing designer named Francoise Lama-Solet on Dashin Fashion Kids Magazine.
Francoise Lama Solet Studio is a French Boutique for Children who love handmade custom fashion and is run by sole designer seamstress Francoise Lama-Solet. Born in Paris, France, Francoise Lama Solet began sewing at a young age hoping to pursue her dream of working for the ‘Couture Ateliers’ of the big designers or les Ateliers Lesage. Francoise Lama Solet dresses are on a class of their own with wonderful frills and bright colored fabrics..
My favorite outfit in the holiday collection is the Holiday Flower Red Tartan Set that includes a halter top and the 2-layer twirl skirt with an embellished with a flower applique, and hand sewn beads. Another favorite is the Amandine Couture Silk Halter Top and 2- Layer Twirl Skirt made of Dupioni silk. The halter top is embellished with silk flowers, lace and beads that are hand sewn on the top.
I love the Francoise Lama-Solet describes her inspiration for design on her website lama-solet.com, I believe in creativity, handmade products, quality products, originality, artistic creations, workmanship, uniqueness …. All these reflect into my designs. I’m constantly brainstorming for new design ideas, looking for new techniques create unique embroidery designs to use in my clothes. They are meant to be unique and different from what you can find in the stores.
